Product Description

In wire processing, guide wheels serve multiple functions including guidance and positioning in cold rolling, removal of surface oxide layers, and ensuring smooth transportation of wire after descaling treatment. The wear resistance and dimensional accuracy of the guide wheel’s working surface directly impact the final quality of the wire, as well as the efficiency and stability of the production process.

Our tungsten carbide guide wheels offer excellent wear resistance and maintain performance even under high temperatures, for instance, at 500°C. This not only helps avoid additional maintenance costs from frequent replacements but also reduces the rate of defective wire caused by wear.

Features of Tungsten Carbide guide wheel

  • Excellent Wear Resistance & Extended Service Life: Our guide wheels are manufactured via pressing and sintering of tungsten carbide, achieving a Rockwell hardness of 87~94 HRA. By carefully adjusting the binder phase ratio and selecting the appropriate carbide grade (e.g., YG8), we ensure the material retains high wear resistance without becoming excessively brittle. Compared to conventional steel guide wheels, cemented carbide guide wheels deliver a service life that is approximately 5–10 times longer.
  • All-Around “Stability” – Material, Thermal, and Operational: Carbide materials exhibit outstanding performance stability even under extreme thermal conditions. The raw materials have melting points generally exceeding 2000°C, and the binder phase (typically cobalt) forms a dense, sintered microstructure that tightly binds the carbide grains. As a result, even at elevated temperatures reaching 500°C and above (up to 800–1000°C in certain applications), the material maintains its key properties such as hardness and wear resistance. In wire processing, frictional heat generated during operation does not significantly degrade the wheel’s performance, ensuring consistent processing quality and uninterrupted production.
  • A Cost-Effective “Partner” for Higher Productivity: Carbide guide wheels offer exceptional hardness (over HRA 92), which translates into superior wear resistance. During the machining of the wheel itself, the surface effectively resists wear from cutting operations, allowing skilled workers to maintain tight geometric tolerances and excellent surface finish. Not only does this significantly extend the guide wheel’s service life and reduce maintenance costs, but it also lowers the scrap rate of wire products caused by wheel wear, thereby improving overall production efficiency and output consistency.
